Fasting 2024

Fasting 2024 (Youth)
Fasting in Christianity does not take place in time and under certain religious laws. The followers of Jesus Christ, at any time, under the guidance of the Spirit of God, individually or in groups, fast for a day or several days, or even for a few hours. The main purpose of Christian fasting is to humbly approach God and ask for His guidance and spend time in prayer in His presence. Christian fasting helps us to learn to avoid human selfishness and self-indulgence, and to understand more the value of the great sacrifice and unique atonement of Jesus Christ.

What Is a Fast That God Likes?

What Is a Fast That God Likes? (Peace and Joy in Christ)
In Christianity, during fasting, the focus and purpose is worship and prayer and closeness to the presence of God, not the issue of eating. The Bible does not command Christians to fast. At the same time, the Bible presents fasting as good, beneficial and useful. The followers of Christ do not fast for the purpose of righteousness and austerity or salvation from sin, because salvation was provided by the shedding of Christ's blood on the cross. Fasting is being humble and close to God so that our rebellious ego is weakened and suppressed. May our prayer and worship be stronger and more effective.

About Fasting

About Fasting (With You)
Jesus Christ approved fasting which was done for the right reasons. Christians fast to humble themselves before God. It is a spiritual discipline. By fasting Christians seek to receive more guidance and power from the Holy Spirit. Christians do not fast in order to be forgiven and gain salvation—so that they can be pardoned on the day of judgement. The prophet Isaiah said that the fasting that pleases God is humility and acts of kindness. Without humility and loving actions, fasting is just an empty pretence.

Fasting 2022

Fasting 2022 (With You)
Fasting is not just to get God's attention. God does not regard the fasting and prayers of hypocrites. The kind of fasting that God requires of His believers is to share their food with the hungry and the poor. He wants us to have an open door for the destitute and the needy. God wants us to give clothes to those who need them, and to care for orphans and widows. This is true fasting!

Will God Accept Your Fasting?

Will God Accept Your Fasting? (Common Questions About the Christian Faith)
In these days of Ramadan, it is good to ask the question: Will God accept your fasting? Another question to ask is, "What kind of fasting does God love and what kind of fasting does He reject?". In the book of Isaiah, we read that God does not accept hypocritical fasting, but loves fasting that includes helping others.

Fasting and Accompanying Rituals 2023 1402

Fasting and Accompanying Rituals 2023 1402 (Seasonal Programmes)
People usually appear to be fasting and pretend to be humble. They bow their heads and sit in ashes, an act that implies humility and mourning. But according to God, all this is for show. Their outward actions appear to honour God, but this honour is not in their hearts. Worse than this, their normal and daily behaviour remains as bad as before. How can they expect God to listen to their prayers and acknowledge their fasting? Fasting means a time for self-denial, self-examination, and repentance from sins. But some people fast just to get attention from God and to feel good about themselves. God does not listen to the prayers of two-faced, hypocritical people.

Many fast and pretend to be humble. They bow their heads and want to appear modest. But according to God’s Word, all this is for show; all this is done so God can see and be impressed! These people honour God not from their hearts but by doing outward deeds. And worst of all, their normal, everyday behavior remains the same. They persist in their sinful habits.

True Fasting

True Fasting (With You)
In Christianity, the purpose of fasting is not just to eat and drink water, but to deepen our relationship with God the Creator. We want to fast with God, either to hear God's voice on a particular subject or to receive a prayer answer. We also determine the type of fasting. For example, "Some people decide not to eat anything for 4 days and drink only a little water, and some people decide to eat only simple food for a few days or, for example, they do not eat or drink anything from morning to noon." To better understand the issue, we invite you to listen to this program. Thanks!
